Family alleges intimidation following death of Delta businessman

A disturbing case of alleged intimidation, stalking, and physical violence is unfolding in Warri, Delta State, following the sudden death of a local businessman, Mr. Sunkanmi Oni.
Insiders and family members, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to safety concerns, have described the situation as a relentless, high-pressure campaign targeting the family of the deceased’s associate, Mr. Roland Keraoru.
The crisis reportedly stems from a routine commercial arrangement between the late Mr. Oni and Mr. Keraoru involving a financial transaction and a vehicle entrusted for sale.
Following Mr. Oni’s unexpected demise, relatives of the deceased allegedly began linking those business dealings to his death, a claim sources emphasize remains entirely unverified.
Tensions escalated dramatically on October 14, 2025, when relatives of the deceased stormed the Warri residence of Mr. Keraoru’s wife, branding him a suspect at large and demanding his immediate whereabouts.
According to a family member present during the confrontation, the encounter moved beyond aggressive questioning.
The individuals reportedly insisted that if Mr. Keraoru could not be produced, his wife would have to stand in for him and be taken away to an unknown location.
The attempted abduction was only thwarted after neighbors and family members staged a strong, unified resistance.
Since that initial confrontation, Keraoru’s family claims their lives have been upended by constant surveillance, anonymous threatening phone calls, and unidentified individuals loitering around their home.
The psychological warfare turned physical on January 29, 2026, when Mr. Keraoru’s wife was ambushed and assaulted by unidentified men near her residence, sustaining injuries that required urgent medical treatment.
Family sources express deep frustration over the lack of official intervention, alleging that the individuals orchestrating the harassment possess significant social influence and connections that have effectively blocked meaningful police protection.
With lives hanging in the balance, those connected to Mr. Keraoru state they are living in a state of constant terror, left to wonder how far the network will go before security agencies intervene.
