The Police on Wednesday arraigned a 49-year-old Estate Agent, Yemi Omogbehin, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, over an alleged accommodation fraud.

Omogbehin, whose address was not provided was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and theft, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Elisha Tellang told the court that the defendant committed the offences in October 2025, at Akala express, Ibadan.

Tellang alleged that the defendant obtained the sum of N775,000 from one Akinola Ige, under the pretext of providing an accommodation for him.

He alleged that the defendant also obtained N705,000 from one Mrs Elizabeth Alaba, under the guise of helping her secure an accommodation.

Tellang said the defendant failed to do so but rather made away with the money.

He said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwaferanmi Raji granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until June 3 for mention.
