Equities market closes bullish, as trading value soars to ₦112.06bn

The Nigerian equities market closed on a bullish note as the benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) advanced by 0.69%, lifting its year-to-date (YTD) return to 56.77%.

Market activity strengthened significantly during the session. The total trading volume surged by 219.73% to 1.65 billion shares, while the value of transactions soared by 390.47% to ₦112.06 billion.

Market breadth remained positive, with 23 gainers outperforming 21 decliners, and three stocks closing unchanged.

Sectoral performance was broadly positive, as most sectoral indices ended the session in the green. The Oil & Gas Index was the sole laggard, declining by 0.19%.

Meanwhile, FIRSTHOLDCO dominated market activity, recording both the highest trading volume and the highest transaction value of the day. A total of 1.26 billion shares were traded in the stock, amounting to ₦85.61 billion.

On the gainers’ chart, INTBREW and FIRSTHOLDCO emerged as the top-performing stocks by price appreciation, while THOMASWY and GEREGU led the losers’ table.
