The Ekiti State Police Command has dismissed Sergeant Osayingbemi Temitope following allegations of misconduct after he was seen behaving erratically in a viral social media video.

The Command disclosed that the dismissal followed the conclusion of medical, psychological, and internal disciplinary procedures initiated after the incident.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, the incident occurred in Ikole-Ekiti on May 9, 2026, after the officer allegedly consumed illicit drugs.

Following the circulation of the video online, the officer was immediately subjected to medical examinations and a psychological evaluation.

While the psychological assessment indicated the officer was emotionally stable, medical tests confirmed he tested positive for tobacco and amphetamines.

The Command further stated that, during the investigation, the officer admitted to consuming illicit substances.

Upon the completion of internal disciplinary proceedings, Sergeant Temitope was found culpable of misconduct. His recommendation for dismissal was subsequently approved by the relevant authorities.

“The Command hereby confirms his dismissal, which shall take immediate effect,” the statement read.

The police command reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains a disciplined organization and will not condone acts of indiscipline, unprofessional conduct, or any behavior capable of tarnishing the image of the Force.

The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, also charged officers and personnel of the Command to uphold discipline, professionalism, integrity, and accountability while discharging their constitutional responsibilities to protect lives and property.
