The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Ekiti State has cautioned against some unscrupulous elements accused of trying to use illegal means to upturn the results of the primary elections stating that such move will not be tolerated as the party is poised to defend it’s internal democracy.

Speaking with newsmen on Monday November 2025 at the party’s secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the party leaders led by former Chairman, Ado Local Government Hon. Deji Ogunsakin declared that the party is satisfied with the process of the primary that produced Dr. Wole Oluyede and posited that the elements working behind the scene to scuttle the decision of the people are alien to the party and will be resisted.

According to the PDP Chieftain, the process adopted in electing the gubernatorial candidate was fair in accordance with the constitution of the party.

He declared that the recently concluded of the primary election was chaired by Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo who also announced Oluyede as the winner the election.

This morning some unfounded news started spreading that some people have began to embark on illegal activities aiming to overturn the results of the guber primary elections held on saturday november 8.

He said: “We the Ekiti PDP is using this medium to state that we stand against any form of outside influence from few sold out persons who want   to disrupt or change the peoples.”

While rumours have it that the governor of Oyo state Seyi Makinde and the former National Deputy Chairman, Southwest of the Party were responsible for the alleged attempt to upturn the results of the guber primary election, Ogunsakin explained that those mentioning the name of Oyo state governor Eng. Seyi Makinde must be day dreaming because the governor is a well respected leader and will not stoop so low to support mischief makers.

“Governor Seyi Makinde is our leader likewise Eddy Olafeso and every other notable leaders are well respected but we will not allow anybody use their name because we are sure Governor Seyi Makinde and Eddy Olafeso cannot stoop so low to say they want to thwart the collective progress of the party.

“We in the Ekiti PDP believe that those taking this unholy step are working to sell the party to APC by trying to field a very weak candidate in the guber elections and let it be on record that it was Governor seyi Makinde that recommended Senator Ningi and Senator Dankwambo who oversaw the ad hoc delegates election and primary election respectively.

“It is therefore unacceptable to use the name of Seyi Makinde to want to cause any conflict. We in Ekiti say no to any external person trying to mortgage the party for their selfish interest.” Hon. Ogunsakin noted.

Hon. Ogunsakin further stated that while efforts are already in motion to bring aggrieved contestant and their supporters back into the fold, he called on external factions to steer clear of the party as those with ulterior motives will be resisted.

“We have rebuilt this party and we have achieved this milestone and because they are jittery knowing full well that we have a formidable candidate in Dr. Oluyede and this time we will not allow them to sell the party and by the grace of God the enemies of the PDP will be defeated” he added.

Also, Hon Segun Adekola, a former member of the  House of Reps declared that the PDP has chosen its candidate in a free and fair internal election and that only enemies of the party will want to scuttle such open process.

On his part, a former State Chairman of the Party,  Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, called on the National leaders of the party to resist any attempt by saboteurs to hijack the party noting that the Ekiti PDP is on the right track to reclaim the governorship seat in the state. He was of the opinion that governor Seyi Makinde is aware of the peoples resolve and will not seek to destroy the good structure that the PDP has established  in Ekiti.

In his remarks,  Rt. Hon Kolawole Oluwawole a former Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly warned  that the party is not for sale and while reconciliatory efforts will be pursued, he maintained that the party is ready to relieve Oyebanji of his position as the governor of the state through the candidacy of Dr. Wole Oluyede.

In his own words, Hon. Niyi Adebayo a former Chairman of Moba local government called on all PDP leaders to remain steadfast in their commitment and resolve to continue to unite the party.

He dismissed the rumours flying around that governor Seyi Makinde and Eddy Olafeso were behind the attempted bmove to  upturn  the saturday primary stating that mischief makers might use the names of the leaders to perpetrate  falsehood.

He called on PDP faithful to continue to work in unity declaring that the party is assured of victory in the forthcoming  elections in the state.
