Ekiti Guber: Court affirms Oyebanji as APC candidate

The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Ekiti State, affirming Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the party’s authentic candidate.

In its ruling, the court held that issues concerning the nomination and eligibility of candidates are the exclusive internal affairs of political parties.

It further noted that such matters are generally not subject to judicial interference unless clear violations of the law are established.

The judgment effectively resolves the legal disputes surrounding the APC primary, reinforcing Oyebanji’s candidacy ahead of the state’s upcoming governorship election.

Reacting to the development, the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Local Government Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Olabode Adetunji, described the verdict as a reaffirmation of the governor’s widespread popularity.

Adetunji attributed the legal victory to Governor Oyebanji’s strong grassroots appeal and the tangible impact of his administration’s people-oriented programs.

He noted that ongoing interventions in local governance, infrastructure development, and social welfare continue to resonate with residents, bolstering public confidence in the administration.

He further emphasized that the court’s decision reflects the prevailing sentiment among Ekiti citizens, who have largely embraced the governor’s inclusive leadership style and commitment to sustainable development.
