The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, has deployed 1,850 personnel across the state to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Speaking to officers and personnel, Commandant Joachin Okafor explained that the special deployment aligns with the Federal Government’s declaration of Monday, 31st March, and Tuesday, 1st April, 2025, as public holidays for the festivities.

He assured that the officers selected for this operation were drawn from various tactical units, departments, divisions, and area commands to ensure maximum efficiency.

Commandant Okafor reaffirmed that under his leadership, the NSCDC will prioritise the protection of vital national assets and infrastructure, ensuring they remain secure throughout the celebration period.

To this end, he has ordered extensive deployments to strategic and high-risk locations, including: Worship centres (mosques and churches); Recreational hubs; Markets and motor parks; Oil and gas pipelines; Telecommunication facilities; Electricity installations (PHCN facilities); Public utilities such as manholes and healthcare centres.

Seizing the opportunity to issue a stern directive, Okafor instructed area commanders, tactical unit leaders, and divisional officers to review and refine their security strategies. He warned that officers who fail to perform up to standard will be held accountable, as he has zero tolerance for inefficiency or negligence.

The Commandant also issued a strong caution to criminal elements, warning them to abandon all forms of economic sabotage and vandalism, or face the full force of the law.

As the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations approach, the NSCDC remains resolute in its mission to maintain peace, security, and order across Rivers State.
