EFCC nabs 32 suspected internet fraudsters in Bauchi raid

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 32 individuals in Bauchi State for alleged involvement in internet fraud during a coordinated sting operation.

The arrests were confirmed in a statement posted on Monday on the Commission’s verified Facebook page. According to the release, operatives of the EFCC’s Gombe Zonal Directorate conducted the operation on Friday, July 25, 2025, focusing on hideouts in Sabon Kaura and Gwalameji, two densely populated areas of Bauchi metropolis.

The agency said the raid followed credible intelligence linking the suspects to ongoing cybercrime activities across the state. EFCC operatives reportedly moved in on the locations and detained the suspects without incident.

During the operation, several digital and electronic items believed to have been used in carrying out cybercrimes were seized. These included multiple mobile phones of various brands, iPads, laptop computers, gaming consoles, power generators, motorbikes, a car, and a pistol.

The EFCC disclosed that investigations are underway and that the suspects would be charged to court once preliminary inquiries are finalised.

“Operatives of the Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, July 25, 2025, arrested 32 suspected internet fraudsters,” the statement read.

The raid represents the latest in a string of enforcement actions by the Commission across Nigeria targeting cyber-enabled financial crimes. The EFCC reiterated its resolve to pursue and prosecute all individuals implicated in internet fraud nationwide.
