EFCC arrests trio for using N500 note to clean mucus

The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested three individuals over the alleged mutilation of the Naira following a viral social media video.

The suspects Adam Muhammad, Muhammad Muhammad and Bashir Musa were apprehended after a video surfaced online showing them allegedly using a N500 note to clean mucus from their noses.

The footage, which sparked outrage across social media platforms, prompted swift action from the anti-graft agency.

Sources within the commission disclosed that operatives traced and arrested the trio within the Maiduguri metropolis shortly after the video went viral.

They are currently being held at the EFCC’s Maiduguri detention facility as investigations continue.

The commission confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
