EFCC arrests man for impersonating operatives, defrauding victim of N3m in Maiduguri

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Maiduguri Zonal Directorate, have arrested a man identified as Nuhu Dahiru for allegedly impersonating an EFCC operative and obtaining N3 million under false pretence.
Dahiru was arrested at Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State, following credible intelligence received by the Commission concerning his activities.
According to the EFCC, the suspect had allegedly been parading himself as an officer of the anti-graft agency and using the false identity to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The Commission said operatives moved in following the intelligence and apprehended the suspect at the location.
A total sum of N3 million, allegedly obtained through the fraudulent activities, was recovered from him at the point of arrest.
The EFCC said investigations into the matter are ongoing, adding that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The arrest forms part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on individuals who exploit its name and identity to defraud members of the public.
