EFCC arraigns Maiduguri man for N25m Beans fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Mohammed Abdullahi Korimi before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court to face a two-count charge involving criminal misappropriation and obtaining goods by false pretense.

The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the EFCC initiated the arraignment after Korimi allegedly defrauded a supplier of 400 bags of beans valued at N25,647,000.

The prosecution alleges that in July 2025, Korimi convinced Maina Hassan Madube to hand over the massive shipment under the guise of selling it to customers in Sango-Ota, Ogun State.

He reportedly promised to settle the debt within one week, a claim the EFCC describes as a fraudulent representation.

Although the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, prosecution counsel S.O. Saka successfully moved for him to be held in custody pending trial.

Justice Kumaliya ordered Korimi’s remand at the Maiduguri Maximum Correctional Facility and adjourned the matter until April 22, 2026, for the hearing of his bail application.
