The Edo State Police Command has officially declared 47-year-old John Ekuase wanted following his failure to respond to a formal summons regarding an investigation into an alleged same-sex relationship.

Ekuase, a resident of No. 11 Idehen Street, Aduwawa College Road in Benin City, was expected to appear before the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence (DCII) on September 18, 2023. His disappearance is currently being treated by authorities as a deliberate attempt to evade justice.

The investigation was initiated after the arrest of Mr. Uyi Osaigbovo, who reportedly named Ekuase as his partner during a police interrogation.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that Ekuase is a native of Evbiekoi Village in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area and was born in Lagos State on September 14, 1976. Despite the formal invitation issued by the Nigeria Police Force, his whereabouts remain unknown, leading to his official status as a wanted person.

The Command emphasized that same-sex relationships remain a criminal offense under Nigeria’s existing anti-same-sex legislation. Officers are actively working to locate Ekuase to ensure he faces prosecution in accordance with the law.

Members of the public are urged to provide any relevant information to the nearest police station to assist in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspect.
