Eagles shift focus to bronze medal battle against Egypt

Following their semi-final exit, the Super Eagles have arrived in Casablanca to prepare for the third-place playoff against Egypt, scheduled for Saturday at the Mohammed V Stadium.

Head Coach Eric Chelle has urged his players to shake off the disappointment of the loss to Morocco and finish the tournament on a high.

Speaking to reporters upon arrival, Chelle praised the team’s mental resilience and insisted that winning the bronze medal would still be a respectable achievement.

"It is painful to lose on penalties after such a fight, but we cannot dwell on it," Chelle said. "We have a duty to Nigerians to bring something home. Egypt is a strong team, but we are ready to fight for the bronze."

The Pharoahs of Egypt were defeated 1-0 by Senegal in the other semi-final clash. Saturday’s match is expected to see some rotation in the Nigerian squad, with fringe players likely to get minutes as the team bids farewell to the tournament.
