Driver jailed 2 months for stealing from employer

A Magistrates’ Court in Abuja on Monday sentenced a 27-year-old driver, Joel Obadiah, to two months imprisonment for stealing one television set and 34 bags of animal feeds from his employer.
Magistrate Abdumajid Oniyangi did not give Obadiah an option of fine, after he pleaded guilty to theft.
Oniyangi ordered that the sentence should start from Dec. 26, 2025, the day the defendant was remanded, before he was granted bail.
He held that number of days the convict had spent in custody should be deducted from the two months.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Helen Ochie told the court that on Dec. 26, 2025, the convict, who was a driver with Ojaba Vet Company, committed the offence.
Ochie said that Obadiah also two gallons of engine oil.
She said that during police investigation, the television and other items were recovered from him.
She said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 348, 287 and of the Penal Code Law.
