Driver flees Lekki-Epe expressway crash after hitting pedestrian

A female pedestrian has sustained serious injuries after she was knocked down by a hit and run driver along the Lekki Epe Expressway in Lagos on Monday.
The accident occurred at EFF Bus Stop inward Marwa, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) where an unidentified motorist reportedly knocked down the victim and fled the scene, leaving her critically injured on the busy highway.
According to the lastma the woman suffered fractures to her arm and leg and was later evacuated to the General Hospital, Odan, for treatment by officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) with traffic officials on duty in the area responding to the incident and alerting emergency responders while traffic around the scene was managed to prevent further accidents.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, condemned the growing trend of hit and run incidents, describing the act of abandoning accident victims as irresponsible and contrary to the law further stressing that motorists have a duty to render assistance and cooperate with authorities when involved in road crashes.
He also urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads and comply with traffic regulations to reduce accidents and improve safety for all road users.
