Driver docked over alleged theft of employer’s car

A 36-year-old driver, Oluwasegun Olanrewaju, on Wednesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan for allegedly stealing his employer’s car worth N1.5 million.
The defendant is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Olarotimi alleged that the defendant committed the offence on July 17, at Gate area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant stole a Toyota Previa car worth N1.5 million, belonging to his employer Mr Pedro Itodo, by selling the car without the employer’s consent.
Olarotimi said the offence contravenes the provisions of section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.
Among other terms, she held that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.
The court adjourned the case until Aug.17, for hearing.
