Defence Minister meets newly appointed service chiefs, reaffirms commitment to unified military strategy

The Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, received the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and the three Service Chiefs during their maiden courtesy visit to his office at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.

Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj Gen Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke.

The visit signified the beginning of a new era of collaboration and unity within Nigeria’s defence leadership, aimed at strengthening national security and operational synergy among the armed forces.

According to the Defence Ministry, the meeting reaffirmed the Minister’s commitment to fostering a cohesive, trust-based military command structure focused on delivering a unified strategy for safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and advancing the country’s strategic defence objectives.
