Dani Alves hails Messi, speaks on Brazil facing Argentina in semi-final

Veteran Brazil defender, Dani Alves, has lauded Argentina captain Lionel Messi for his impressive display at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar so far.

Alves, a former club teammate with Messi at Barcelona, also shut down talks of a potential World Cup semi-final tie between Brazil and Argentina.

Brazil and Argentina have made their way to the last-8 of the World Cup in Qatar after beating South Korea and Australia, respectively.
Brazil will face Croatia in the last-8, while Argentina will clash with the Netherlands.

A mouth-watering clash between Brazil and Argentina will be on the cards if both South American giants can beat the two European teams in the quarterfinal stage.

“Messi right now is Argentina. Everything goes through him. Everything goes through his feet,” Alves said, as quoted by Mundo Albiceleste.
“I believe that he is in an incredible moment. Without a doubt, he is one of the players to take into account in this competition.”

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus right-back added, “We are not here to choose an opponent. Whoever is selected, we are going to have to put everything we have into it to be able to fight for the objective. We cannot think of a semi-final because we are in the quarterfinals.

“Out of respect for Croatia and our opponents, we have to focus on this match. Croatia has a lot of quality players and deserves 110% of our attention.”
