Dangote Refinery set to revolutionise distribution with rollout of 4,000 CNG tankers

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is poised to fundamentally reshape distribution in Nigeria's downstream sector with the rollout of 4,000 CNG tankers nationwide.
The initiative which is set to take effect from August 15, 2025 will see the refinery commence a groundbreaking initiative: the nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel.
This strategic move marks Dangote Refinery's definitive entry as a major player in the downstream sector, promising to transform fuel accessibility and affordability across the nation.
To ensure unparalleled efficiency in this nationwide rollout, Dangote Refinery has made a substantial investment in its logistics network. This includes the immediate deployment of 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers, with plans for continued expansion.
Complementing this, the refinery is also establishing a robust network of CNG "daughter booster" stations supported by over 100 additional CNG tankers, guaranteeing seamless product distribution even to remote areas.
This bold initiative is a testament to Dangote Refinery's unwavering commitment to national economic development. By eliminating logistics costs for purchasers, the refinery aims to enhance energy efficiency, promote sustainability, and significantly reduce the burden of fuel expenses.
This will directly translate to lower production costs for manufacturers, contributing to reduced inflation and fostering robust economic growth across various sectors.
To further support its partners, the refinery announced that it will offer a credit facility for purchases of a minimum of 500,000 liters. Eligible buyers can obtain an additional 500,000 liters on credit for two weeks, subject to a bank guarantee.
This pioneering effort aligns seamlessly with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda," underscoring a shared commitment to economic progress and inclusive development.
"This marks a major revolution in the midstream and downstream sectors and stands as a key example of President Bola Tinubu’s bold and reformative economic policies."
"We sincerely thank the Federal Government for its continued support, especially through the Naira-for-Crude scheme, which has helped stabilize fuel supply amid global price volatility," a refinery spokesperson stated.
