Dangote Cement plans secondary listing on London stock exchange

By Damilare Adeleye
Dangote Cement Plc has disclosed plans to explore a potential secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) as part of a strategy to broaden its access to international capital and deepen its pan-African footprint.
In a notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and dated May 12, 2026, the cement company stated that the proposed listing would be pursued under the LSE’s international commercial companies secondary listing framework.
The disclosure, signed by Company Secretary Edward Imoedemhe, emphasized that the plan is still in its early stages and remains subject to corporate approvals, the finalization of transaction terms, regulatory sign-off, and prevailing market conditions.
The company stated that there is no certainty the proposed listing will be completed or, if it is, what the specific terms or timing might be. Consequently, it urged shareholders and the investing public to exercise caution when dealing in its securities pending further announcements.
As Africa’s largest cement producer, Dangote Cement is already listed on the NGX and remains one of the most heavily traded stocks on the bourse. A secondary listing in London is expected to provide the company with exposure to a deeper pool of global institutional investors and could potentially enhance its valuation and liquidity.
The company confirmed it will provide further updates as the transaction progresses and regulatory requirements are met.
