CP presents N34.3m cheques to heirs of deceased police officers in Kano

The Police Command in Kano State, on Thursday distributed cheques amounting to N34.3 million to the families of 62 deceased police officers under the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Scheme.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries at the command headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

Presenting the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, the CP stated that the initiative is a clear demonstration that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes will never be forgotten.

He said the Nigeria Police Force remained resolutely committed to the welfare of its personnel, both serving and deceased.

Adamu-Bakori said the initiative was part of the welfare package aimed at supporting families of officers who died in the line of duty, and personnel involved in accidents.

“The loss of these gallant officers is deeply painful, not only to their families but to the entire Force.

“While no amount of money can replace a life, this token is the Force’s way of showing that we stand with the families they left behind,” Adamu-Bakori said.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously, particularly for the upkeep and education of the children and families of the deceased officers.

The CP assured that the command would continue to prioritise the welfare of its personnel and ensure prompt processing and payment of entitlements to deceased’s families.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malama Safiya Adamu thanked the IGP and the Commissioner for the gesture.

She assured to make judicious use of the funds and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased officers and quick recovery for those who sustained injuries.
