A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has barred Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma from presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District ahead of the upcoming legislative elections.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that Governor Uzodinma failed to win the May 18, 2026 APC primary election conducted by the party and officially monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Based on evidence presented before the court, the judge established that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha garnered the majority of the votes cast during the exercise and is the rightful winner.

The court also directed the APC to immediately submit Okorocha’s name to INEC as its valid candidate for the 2027 general elections in the senatorial district.
