Committee visits Ibom Deep Seaport project to finalize infrastructure blueprint

The Project Technical Committee for the realization of the Ibom Deep Seaport (IDSP) project has conducted an extensive on-the-spot assessment of the proposed port site to finalize critical infrastructure and accessibility blueprints.
The visit follows the Akwa-Ibom Governor, Umo Eno’s visit alongside the Ibom Deep Seaport Implementation Committee to a high-level technical session with maritime giants, Africa Global Logistics (AGL Group).

The meeting focused on cementing prospective partnerships to guarantee the seamless commencement of the deep seaport operations.

Transitioning from international dialogue to local execution, the IDSP Technical Committee, spearheaded by its Chairperson, Barr. Mfon Ekong Usoro, convened a strategic session at the Ministry of Works Conference Room in Uyo.

The meeting served as a launching pad for an immediate field inspection aimed at tackling potential logistical bottlenecks before construction begins.
Accompanied by the project’s Master Planners from Dar Al-Handasah Consultants and the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, the delegation toured Unyenge and its neighboring host communities. The primary objective of the site visit was to evaluate and design robust accessibility corridors capable of handling the massive industrial traffic projected for the maritime hub.

The joint inspection team featured a robust lineup of key stakeholders and technical experts such as the Former Secretary to the State Government and current Technical Committee member, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, evaluated the terrain alongside Mr. Rabah Ait Ali, the Principal Consultant for Dar Al-Handasah Consultants.
