CAC Cautions Nigerians: Steer Clear of These 3 Unregistered Companies

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has issued a warning to Nigerians to avoid conducting business with three companies found to be operating with fake registration documents and forged incorporation numbers.
In an official notice, the CAC revealed that the affected firms SPEF Cooperative Society Ltd, UPIL Staff Cooperative Society Ltd, and PREM Staff Cooperative Society Ltd have been using fraudulent certificates containing two different RC numbers each. None of the RC numbers are traceable to the commission’s official database.
The companies and the false registration numbers are as follows:
- SPEF Cooperative Society Ltd – RC Numbers: 1265884 and 512862
- UPIL Staff Cooperative Society Ltd – RC Numbers: 1265837 and 553220
- PREM Staff Cooperative Society Ltd – RC Numbers: 1265844 and 545901
“Anyone that transacts any business with the above-mentioned companies does so at their own risk,” the CAC stated.
The commission urged the public to always verify company registration details via its official online portal before entering into any contracts or making financial commitments.
To improve transparency and accessibility, the CAC highlighted the availability of its new digital features, which include instant name reservation, automated business name suggestions, and same-day business registration using the National Identification Number (NIN).
The commission also announced plans to review its service fees effective August 1, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and make its operations more efficient and affordable.
