A 40-year-old businessman, Opeyemi Olanrewaju, has been remanded in the Kirikiri Correction Centre for allegedly raping his two daughters.

The Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ court gave the order on Wednesday.

The police charged Olanrewaju with rape, but the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, did not take his plea due to lack of jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned until June 26 for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

According to the Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, the offence was committed between September 2021 and May.

Olanrewaju’s wife caught him molesting their seven-year-old daughter and also assaulting their five-year-old daughter.

The case was reported at the police station, and the defendant was arrested.

The offence contravenes the provisions of section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
