BUA Group has confirmed a tragic attack that occurred on Friday, September 5, 2025, near its facility in Okpella, Edo State, which resulted in the deaths of eight Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operatives and a civilian driver. 

The company issued a statement expressing deep sadness over the incident.

BUA extended its condolences to the families of those who died, the NSCDC, and the Nigerian government, while also wishing a quick recovery to the injured officers. 

The company noted with grave concern the abduction of one expatriate, although four others were successfully rescued.

According to the statement, BUA is working closely with security agencies to ensure the safe return of the abducted individual and to bring the perpetrators of the “heinous act” to justice. 

The management emphasized that the safety of its staff, partners, and host communities is of utmost importance.

The company’s statement concluded by honoring the fallen security personnel, calling the tragedy a painful reminder of the daily sacrifices they make. 

“Their courage will never be forgotten,” the statement read.
