Bonny, Forcados terminal account for over 637,000bpd as Nigeria’s August output rises

Bonny and Forcados terminals accounted for a combined average production of more than 637,000 barrels per day in August, emerging as Nigeria’s two largest producing streams during the month, according to the latest review by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
Bonny Terminal recorded the highest average production at 320,040 barrels per day, while Forcados followed with 317,400 barrels per day.
Together, the two terminals contributed about 637,440 barrels per day to Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production during the month.
Qua Iboe Terminal ranked third with an average production of 171,720 barrels per day, while Escravos Oil Terminal recorded 131,710 barrels per day.
Bonga was the fifth-highest producing stream, with an average output of 92,500 barrels per day, according to the NUPRC review.
The figures came as Nigeria’s overall crude oil and condensate production increased marginally in August to 1,677,777 barrels per day from 1,670,890 barrels per day in July.
The 0.4 per cent increase was largely linked to the resolution of operational challenges involving the Single Buoy Mooring system at the Erha field, which had affected production and evacuation activities in the preceding month.
The NUPRC said restoring normal operations at Erha contributed positively to national production, while output from most other producing assets remained relatively stable.
Despite the August recovery, production remained below the 1,735,398 barrels per day recorded in June, the highest monthly average recorded in 2026 so far.
Excluding condensates, Nigeria produced 1,500,190 barrels of crude oil per day in August, allowing the country to meet its 1.5 million barrels per day OPEC quota for the fourth consecutive month.
The NUPRC said operators were continuing measures to improve production efficiency, maintain asset integrity and minimise disruptions to production and crude evacuation.
It said sustained intervention and improved operational reliability would be important to restoring affected capacity and supporting further growth in Nigeria’s oil output.
