The resident of Adeyi avenue of old bodija estate in Ibadan, oyo state capital have call on the governor and the oyo state commissioner of police to come to their aid.

This was made as a petition made through the landlord association’s chairman Bar. Alowonle Joseph on the 28th day of January 2024, who claimed that the lives of residents and landlord executive have been under severe threats since the event of a bomb blast that rock the town two weeks back.

The explosion which left more than 60 buildings destroyed, not fewer than 77 seriously injured and many dead.

Joseph disclosed that some of the executives of the association has been under severe threats from the unknown people suspected to be linked to the owner of the building where the explosive generated due to explosive materials illegally stored in the building.
Since the unfortunate incident happened on the 16th day of January 2024; Several attempt had been made to abduct children out the town, but eagle eyes of the vigilante always render their efforts useless.
A particular one was on the children of Mr Olokode Olanrewaju Akanbi in their school, he is the Financial Secretary to the CDA. but the quick intervention of security guard save the situation.

Unknown men almost force my wife and our little daughter into a waiting sienna car at the market, it was the people around that chased them away, who knows what would have become of my daughter and wife “I would have been dead now” it has been one call or other from these unknown people threatening to wipe my family, mr. Olokode Akanbi disclosed.
On several occasions before this unfortunate explosion we wrote petitions to the ministry of environment and the Nigeria police on suspicious activities in that building with truck load of suspicious content moving in weekly. Yet nothing was done until this unfortunate incident which have left majority of us homeless and many dead yet they are still after our lives for seeking justice” another resident laments.
Alhaja abimbola who is also a resident of the estate berates insecurity of their lives since the explosion. I didn’t take these threats serious until they tried adopting my neighbour’s children. Mrs Adeniji. Now I have stopped my children from going to school for their safety; She said.

The landlords in their meeting with the governor shortly after the explosion indicated the directors of the state security, the Nigeria police and some government officials for complicity before the explosion, they were accused of serving as escorts and security details convoys conveying explosives to the residential area where the house is located. “Despite our losses in the explosion we still have to watch our back for fear of being kidnapped or killed, it’s so bad the way things are done in the country Bar. Joseph said.

The public relations officer of the landlord said in his own appeal said he now walks in fear and apprehension since he was attacked last week Thursday from peace suspect to be linked to the building.

Mr. Olokode while appealing to governor seyi makinde and the commissioner of police to expadiate all efforts in bringing these culprits to book as that is the only panacea to secure their safety as they are now live in fear of attack by these perpetrators.

The building of the explosion is reportedly owned by a Malian, sawane youssouf who operates illegal mining activities and supplies explosive materials for rock blasting and industrial uses.
His whereabout is still unknown as of the time of this publication.
