The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Nigeria, Pieter Leenknegt, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Government of Osun State, where discussions centred on strengthening partnerships in agriculture, industrial development, and sustainable investment.
The delegation, which included His Royal Majesty, Oba Dokun Thompson, the Oloni of Eti-Oni, and Her Royal Majesty, Queen Angelique-Monet Gureje-Thompson, the Yeyeluwa Olori of Eti-Oni, was warmly received on behalf of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi.
Also present were the Head of Service, Elder Samuel Ayanleye Aina, and Hon. Bamikole Omishore, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Multilateral Relations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Leenknegt commended the Osun State Government for its dedication to good governance and sustainable progress under the current administration. He expressed keen interest in Osun’s agricultural potential and pledged to advocate the state’s investment opportunities among Belgian institutions and business communities.
In his response, Deputy Governor Adewusi appreciated the ambassador’s gesture and reaffirmed the government’s readiness to collaborate with international partners to accelerate growth in the agricultural and industrial sectors.
“Osun is the safest state in the South-West, blessed with cocoa and several other natural resources that can serve as raw materials for industries to be established here,” Adewusi stated.
He emphasised that Governor Adeleke’s administration remains committed to creating a business-friendly environment that attracts investors and ensures long-term sustainability.
