Bauchi teen arrested for removing sister’s eyes for money ritual

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 17 year old boy, Auwalu Muhammad, for allegedly plucking out the eyes of his younger sister in a suspected money ritual attempt in Wailo town, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson SP Ahmed Wakil, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, said the suspect lured his sister, Rukayya Muhammad, into a nearby bush on October 17, where he brutally attacked her and removed both eyes.
“Unfortunately, a medical doctor (eye specialist) confirmed that the young girl will never regain her vision for the rest of her life,” Wakil said.
He added that Auwalu, who shares the same parents with the victim, confessed to the crime during interrogation, claiming he acted in a desperate bid to acquire wealth.
According to the police, six other suspects Auwal Dahiru (17), Mohammed Rabiu (19), Saleh Ibrahim (20), Nasiru Muhammad, Hassan Garba, and Garba Dahiru (43) have also been arrested in connection with the crime.
Wakil said investigation is ongoing to uncover the full motive and bring all accomplices to justice.
