Bandits abduct Catholic Priest in Kaduna

A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, has been kidnapped by suspected bandits in the early hours of Thursday in Kaduna State.
Fr. Amos, who serves as the parish priest at St. Gerald Quasi Parish in Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area, was taken from his residence around 12:15 a.m., according to a statement released by the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan.
Announcing the incident, the Chancellor of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, described the abduction as a distressing development and appealed for calm among parishioners and the public.
"We regret to inform you that Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos was abducted from his residence in Kurmin Risga on Thursday, April 24, 2025, around 12:15 a.m.," the statement read.
"We urge all faithful to remain prayerful and avoid any action that may escalate the situation."
The Diocese emphasized that all lawful efforts will be deployed to secure the safe and unharmed return of the cleric, while also invoking divine intervention through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the angels.
Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement regarding the abduction as of the time of this report.
