Leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has announced a radical immigration reform plan aimed at deporting at least 150,000 illegal migrants every year, describing it as “the toughest border policy Britain has ever seen.”
In a video message posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Badenoch unveiled what she called the Radical Borders Plan, which proposes the creation of a new Removals Force modelled after the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The new agency, she said, would strengthen border enforcement and end what she described as the “asylum hotel racket.”
She said: “My message is clear: if you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported. Our new Removals Force, modelled on US ICE, will deport 150,000 illegal migrants each year.”
Badenoch, known for her hard-line stance on migration, accused both Conservative and Labour governments of failing to deliver credible immigration control, blaming them for Britain’s rising illegal entry numbers.
“Successive governments have failed on immigration. Labour promised to smash the gangs. Instead, they delivered record small boat crossings, over 50,000 illegal arrivals, 32,000 people in asylum hotels, and billions wasted. It’s pure weakness,” she said.
Under her proposal, the Human Rights Act would be repealed, the UK would withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), and asylum claims from illegal entrants would be banned outright. She further vowed that all illegal arrivals would be deported within one week of arrest, with visa sanctions imposed on countries that refuse to repatriate their citizens.
According to Badenoch, the measure will save taxpayers billions of pounds and restore “public trust in Britain’s borders.”
