The average retail price of refilling a 5kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (cooking gas) slipped by 0.96 per cent month-on-month, falling from ₦8,323.95 in June 2025 to ₦8,243.79 in July 2025.

The figures were contained in the National Bureau of Statistics’ (NBS) latest report, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) Price Watch, released on Tuesday.

Year-on-year data, however, showed a 37.98 per cent increase compared with ₦5,974.55 recorded in July 2024.

The NBS also reported that the average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of cooking gas dropped by 1.91 per cent month-on-month, from ₦21,010.56 in June 2025 to ₦20,609.48 in July 2025. On a year-on-year basis, this represented a 44.51 per cent surge from ₦14,261.57 in July 2024.

Adamawa posted the highest average retail price for a 5kg refill at ₦9,011.36, followed closely by Rivers at ₦9,005.00 and Taraba at ₦8,945.43. Yobe recorded the lowest price at ₦7,612.00, while Niger and Nasarawa followed at ₦7,662.00 and ₦8,000.25 respectively.

A zonal breakdown showed the South-South region with the highest average price for a 5kg refill at ₦8,511.26, followed by the South-East at ₦8,321.16. The South-West recorded the lowest regional average at ₦8,073.92.

For 12.5kg refills, Adamawa again led with an average of ₦22,528.39, followed by Rivers at ₦22,512.49 and Taraba at ₦22,363.57. Yobe offered the lowest average at ₦19,030.00, with Niger at ₦19,154.99 and Nasarawa at ₦20,000.62.

Across zones, the South-South recorded the highest average price for a 12.5kg refill at ₦21,278.14, trailed by the South-East at ₦20,802.89, while the South-West reported the lowest at ₦20,184.79.
