The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 25 chairmanship seats in the just-concluded local government elections in Niger State, consolidating its political dominance across the state.
The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) confirmed the results in a statement signed by its Commissioner for Operations, Mohammed Liman, who described the exercise as “credible, transparent, and reflective of the people’s will.”
According to the commission, collation and declaration of results were completed in line with the Electoral Law and the Commission’s operational guidelines.
“After careful review, the Commission approved and ratified the results, confirming the duly elected chairmen and councillors who met all legal requirements,” Liman stated.
Among the winners are Sayuti Ibrahim Halilu (Agaie), Usman Mohammed (Bida), Mustapha Jibrin (Chanchaga), Lawal Yusuf (Kontagora), and Mohammed Lokogoma (Wushishi).
For councillorship positions, APC secured 271 out of 274 available seats, while the opposition PDP won only two seats — one each in Tafa and Rafi Local Government Areas.
Liman congratulated the elected officials and urged them to uphold transparency, accountability, and service to their communities.
NSIEC announced that Certificates of Return will be presented to all elected officials on a date to be communicated to stakeholders.
