…accuse Atiku of plotting to discredit Kaduna rally
The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC) has dismissed allegations regarding the funding of its presidential campaign flag-off, branding claims that the Kaduna State Government spent N2.3 trillion to host the event.
In a press statement issued on Saturday by Dele Alake, Spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, the campaign council alleged that the opposition has orchestrated a devious plot involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to leverage fake news, deepfake videos, and counterfeit documents to undermine the APC rally in Kaduna, President Bola Tinubu, and Governor Uba Sani.
The council noted that the circulated figure of N2.3 trillion defies all logic and basic common sense, noting that it far exceeds Kaduna State’s entire annual budget for multiple years.
“For context, the combined state budgets for 2024 (N458.271 billion), 2025 (N790.439 billion), and 2026 (N985.9 billion) fall significantly short of the alleged amount,” the statement read in part.
The APC-PCC alleged that the smear campaign began unfolding hours prior through coordinated social media narratives and planted stories involving routine security patrols near campaign billboards, which they claimed were distorted to mislead the public.
Accusing the opposition of desperation ahead of the polls, Alake urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, disregard malicious disinformation campaigns, and reject attempts to manipulate public opinion.
