The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially extended the deadline for the sale of its expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 general election primaries to midnight on Monday, May 4, 2026.

This decision follows an unusually high volume of interest from aspirants across the country and the disruption caused by the upcoming Friday public holiday.

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) approved the revised timeline during a meeting held Thursday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Alongside the extension for the purchase of forms, the committee also pushed the final submission deadline to midnight on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, allowing aspirants extra time to finalize their documentation.

The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Durosinmi Meseko, announced the changes shortly after the meeting concluded.

He noted that the original schedule which would have seen the sale of forms end on Saturday, May 2 had to be adjusted to ensure that all intending aspirants are given a fair opportunity to participate in the process.

Under the new schedule, the window for purchasing forms is now open until the close of business on Monday, giving late entrants additional time to join the race.

The submission period, which was originally set to end on Monday, will now extend through Tuesday to accommodate the expected surge in completed filings.

Meseko emphasized that the extension was a proactive step by the NWC to manage the logistics of the high demand while accounting for the holiday-shortened work week.

The party maintained that these adjustments will ensure a more inclusive and organized primary process as it prepares for the 2027 electoral cycle.
