Apapa LG steps up fight against vandalism, highlights development efforts

The Apapa Local Government of Lagos State has intensified its efforts to curb vandalism and protect public infrastructure, as the council continues to engage stakeholders and the media on measures aimed at improving the area.

The council, under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, has placed greater emphasis on the protection of public assets, environmental safety and community development.

The administration’s focus on security and infrastructure comes amid concerns over the impact of vandalism on public facilities and essential infrastructure in Apapa, a major maritime and industrial hub in Lagos State.

Recent engagements by the council have included stakeholder discussions on environmental and security issues, with the administration seeking stronger collaboration among residents, relevant agencies and other stakeholders in addressing challenges confronting the local government.

The council has also continued to highlight infrastructure and environmental initiatives being undertaken across Apapa, while encouraging residents to take ownership of public facilities and report activities capable of undermining government projects.

The renewed attention to vandalism is particularly significant given the strategic importance of Apapa, which hosts major port facilities and serves as a key commercial gateway for the movement of goods into and out of Lagos.

The local government’s engagement with the media is expected to further improve public awareness of its activities and provide residents with information on ongoing projects, security measures and other interventions.

The administration maintained that protecting public infrastructure requires collective responsibility, with government, security agencies, residents and other stakeholders expected to work together to safeguard facilities and sustain development efforts across Apapa.
