Anambra PDP chairman, Chidi Chidebe, resigns

‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌Dr Chidi Chidebe, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra, has resigned his position with effect from Aug. 27.

Chidebe announced his resignation in a letter dated Aug. 27 and addressed to the Chairman, Interim National Working Committee of the PDP on Thursday.

Chidebe was elected Chairman in Anambra in a Congress held on Oct. 24, 2024.

He said that he took the decision to relinquish his position following an extensive and careful consultations with his family, close associates and trusted stakeholders.

He said the continued disagreements and legal disputes surrounding the party’s national leadership had created an ‘increasingly’ difficult environment in which to effectively discharge his responsibilities as a state chairman.

Chidebe appreciated God for granting him the opportunity to serve as well as the PDP State executive committee, local government chairmen, ward executives and party faithful for their support throughout his tenure.

“I write to formally communicate my decision to resign from my position as the State Chairman of the PDP Anambra with effect from the date of this letter.

“This has become necessary in view of the protracted internal conflicts and unresolved challenges that have characterised the party over the past one year.

“Having given the matter considerable thought and having served to the best of my ability, I believe that stepping aside at this point is in the best interest of my personal peace, and the party at large,” he said.

Chidebe said serving as the chairman of PDP was a privilege as the experiences, relationships and friendships gained during his time in office were immense.
