Anambra Govt. vows to arrest attackers of Soludo’s aide convoy

The Anambra Government on Tuesday says it is intensifying efforts to track down gunmen who attacked the convoy of Mr Ben Nwankwo, Chief of Staff to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo last Sunday, May 31.

The gunmen reportedly shot dead four persons including two police personnel during the attack which took place between the hours of 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the border of Orumba North and Orumba South areas of the state.

Nwankwo was returning to Awka from official assignment when the gunmen opened fire on his convey resulting to four deaths.

Dr Law Mefor, the state Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation disclosed the position of the government in a statement made available to journalists in Awka.

Mefor described the attack as `shocking’, saying that the situation needed decisive action.

“The attack was more than an attack on one person. It was an attack on the peace, security and democratic order of the state, as well as the government and people of Anambra,’’ he said.

Mefor disclosed that four people lost their lives during the attack, noting that the deceased persons deserved justice and would surely get it.

He noted that government had sent its deepest condolences to the families of those who died and shared in their grief.

The commissioner hinted that the police and other security agencies were already working round the clock to unmask those involved in act and bring them to justice.

Mefor said that the isolated incident after more than one year of peace and security in the state will not deter   government in its determination to fight all forms of crimes across the state.
