Seplat Energy tops N10,000 per share

17 Apr 2026

Seplat Energy Plc has surpassed N10,000 per share in the Nigerian stock market following a fresh rally on Tuesday, marking its highest valuation in 52 weeks.

The energy company’s share price rose to N10,450 as buy-side interest drove the transaction of 219,366 units on the local bourse.

This latest price movement stands in sharp contrast to previous trading patterns. Before Tony Elumelu’s Heirs Energies acquired a significant stake in the company, Seplat was often among the market movers that rarely fluctuated, irrespective of earnings or other price-sensitive developments.

Heirs Energies became the largest shareholder in Seplat Energy PLC after acquiring a 20.07% stake for $496 million from the French company Maurel & Prom.

As of January 2026, Tony Elumelu was appointed to the Seplat board as a non-executive director to help guide the firm’s strategic direction.

Trading data showed that Seplat climbed to N10,450 per share, boosting its market value by 9.4%, or N900 in a single sweep, from its previous position of N9,550.

With 599.994 million outstanding shares, Seplat Energy’s total market capitalization has now inched higher to N6.269 trillion.
