The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has refuted allegations suggesting his involvement in any plot to unseat the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, describing the claims as false, baseless, and misleading.
In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, the revered monarch cautioned against dragging the Olubadan throne into what he described as “dirty politics,” emphasizing the need to preserve the sanctity and neutrality of the traditional institution.
Oba Ladoja noted that it is both illogical and constitutionally unfounded to insinuate that a traditional ruler possesses the authority to remove a sitting governor. He stressed that even at the grassroots level, no monarch holds the constitutional power to impeach a local government chairman, let alone a state governor.
Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the dignity of the traditional institution, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland urged political actors across Oyo State to desist from involving the revered throne in partisan disputes or unfounded political narratives.
The monarch further called for responsible political engagement, underscoring the importance of safeguarding the integrity of traditional leadership from unnecessary controversy.
