…Commissioner calls for collaboration to ensure success
Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has rolled out a comprehensive 10-point initiative aimed at uplifting women, girls and vulnerable groups across the state.
The plan, known as the “O’Datiwa Women Initiative Blueprint”, was introduced by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Oluwaseun Osamaye, during her maiden official engagement in Akure on Monday.
Dr Osamaye described the framework as a strategic roadmap to fulfil the governor’s campaign pledges to women.
“The 10-point initiative addresses all spheres of women’s lives — education, health, business and political participation. It will guide this ministry over the next four years,” she said.
The programme covers a range of interventions: free training and skills acquisition, medical outreach for elderly and vulnerable groups, welfare programmes for widows and women with disabilities, capacity-building for female farmers, entrepreneurs and artisans, safe-delivery awareness campaigns with maternity kits, the annual Teen Girls Conference, a children’s parliament and advocacy for gender equality and inclusive governance.
She commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for honouring his campaign promises, noting that women had been instrumental to his electoral victory across all 18 local government areas.
The commissioner also disclosed plans for partnerships with agencies and organisations to ensure the plan’s effective execution.
“This is a task that demands joint action. We must work together to achieve its full implementation,” she said.
