Airtel Africa repurchases 658,401 shares

Airtel Africa plc has continued the execution of its share buy-back programme, announcing the purchase of 658,401 ordinary shares from Citigroup Global Markets Limited across the London Stock Exchange and alternative trading venues.

According to a corporate filing submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), the transactions were carried out pursuant to pre-set instructions issued by the telecommunications group.

The repurchased shares are slated to be cancelled in line with the company’s capital allocation strategy.

A breakdown of the daily trading activity reveals that on the London Stock Exchange, the company acquired 346,163 ordinary shares at a volume-weighted average price of 115.11 GBp, with transaction prices ranging from a high of 116.50 GBp to a low of 113.80 GBp.

Across alternative multilateral trading facilities, Airtel Africa purchased 149,431 shares via BATS Europe at a volume-weighted average price of 115.08 GBp, alongside 162,807 shares through Chi-X Europe at an average price of 115.09 GBp.

Since the commencement of this buy-back tranche, the company has repurchased an aggregate of 21,795,050 ordinary shares at a volume-weighted average price of 114.15 GBp.

The initiative remains part of Airtel Africa’s broader phased programme designed to return value to shareholders, optimize its capital structure, and reduce the overall volume of outstanding voting rights across its primary and secondary exchange listings.
