Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation Donates N20m to Maiduguri Flood Victims

The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has donated N20 million to victims of the recent floods in Maiduguri.

This is contained in a statement by the Director-General of the Foundation, Mr Abubakar Gambo Umar, made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Kaduna.

The donation, the statement said, was announced during a sympathy visit to the Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno at the Government House in Maiduguri on Monday.

Umar, who led the Foundation’s delegation, conveyed the organisation’s condolences to the government and people of Borno State, expressing sorrow over the loss of lives and properties as well as displacement of people by the floods.

He reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the affected communities and called on Nigerians and the international community to join hands in aiding Borno’s recovery efforts.

“We encourage all well-meaning individuals and organisations to assist in rebuilding lives and restoring hope to those affected by this disaster,” Umar said.

In his response, Gov. Zulum expressed his gratitude to the Foundation, assuring that the funds would be used judiciously to alleviate the sufferings of the flood victims.

The delegation also visited the Shehu of Borno, Dr Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El Kanemi, where prayers were offered for the victims and the state’s recovery.

The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation continues to uphold its mission of supporting communities in times of need.
