The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has honoured veteran Nollywood actor and former guild president Segun Arinze on his 60th birthday.

Abubakar Yakubu, National Secretary of AGN, praised the actor in an interview on Wednesday in Abuja.

He explained that the 60-year milestone provided the guild with an opportunity to celebrate Arinze for his immense contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

“On behalf of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, its leadership, Board of Trustees, and members, I congratulate Segun Arinze on turning 60.

“It is a landmark birthday, and he has spent most of these years contributing meaningfully to Nollywood and serving our noble guild.

“He is humble, selfless, and has mentored many actors. His story remains an inspiration to younger generations of performers,” Yakubu said.

Arinze, fondly known as Black Arrow after his role in the 1996 classic Silent Night, earlier expressed gratitude in an Instagram post.

He wrote: “Today, as I turn 60, my heart is full of gratitude. Life’s journey has been God’s grace. To my wife and children, thank you for being my anchor, safe place, and my greatest cheerleaders.

“To friends, colleagues, and brothers and sisters in the creative industry, you have been part of my story.

“This milestone is not just about me; it’s about everyone who has walked this path with me. I celebrate you.”

Segun Arinze, born Sept. 24, 1965, began his career as both a singer and an actor. He gained early recognition with his debut album Dream, though it was not a commercial success.

With over 100 films to his credit, Arinze is also an acting coach and currently shares his knowledge at a leading African film festival.

He continues to inspire the next generation of actors while cementing his legacy as one of Nollywood’s most respected veterans.
