AFCON 2023: CAF appoints Egyptian referee for Super Eagles vs Bafana Bafana
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has appointed Egyptian official Amin Mohamed Omar as referee for Wednesday’s semi-final encounter between Nigeria and South Africa.
Omar’s compatriots Mahmoud Kamel Abouelregal and Ahmed Hossam Ibrahim will play the roles of assistant referee 1 and assistant referee 2 respectively, while Sudanese Mahmood Ali Ismail will serve as fourth official.
Attia Essa Amsaaed from Libya will be the reserve assistant referee, with Yacoub Ali Elmi from Djibouti as commissioner and Aboubacar Doumbouya from Guinea as referee assessor.
The encounter is billed for the Stade de la Paix, Bouake.
The game will kick off at 6pm Nigeria time.

Okonkwo named in League Two’s Team of the Season
Wrexham United goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo has been named in EFL League Two’s Team of the Season.
The 22-year-old goalie has kept 13 clean sheets in the league this season.
The Nigerian has started 34 of Wrexham’s 44 League Two fixtures.
The Arsenal-owned shot-stopper played a starring role in the Red Dragons wrapping up a top-three finish and back-to-back promotions.
Okonkwo will be available this summer as his contract at Arsenal is about to expire.
There is expected to be a massive scramble for his signature following his exploits with Wrexham.

Njoku talks up Rangers, Abia Warriors oriental derby
Abia Warriors captain Augustine Njoku is optimistic of a good outing in the oriental derby clash with Rangers.
The highly anticipated Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 30 tie will take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Tuesday (today).
Rangers have lost just once in their last 10 league games.
Njoku, who said his side had prepared adequately for the game, boasted that they were unperturbed by Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side’s current form.
“I believe we can do better against Rangers in Enugu on Tuesday(today),” he stated to the club’s media.
“We have had a long training session during the week and we have prepared ourselves adequately for the game.
“We are not bothered about their current form as we respect any team we are playing against in the league.
“We will do our best to get a good result from the game.”

Enyimba forward Odufeso targets victory in first oriental derby
Enyimba forward, Mujeeb Odufeso says he is looking forward to his first oriental derby clash against Heartland.
Odufeso joined the People’s Elephant during the mid-season transfer window from Gombe United.
He said that the nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions are desperate to improve their position on the table.
Enyimba will be in action against Heartland at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Tuesday(today).
“It’s my first Oriental derby clash and definitely I’m looking forward to a very big game against Heartland,” he told Enyimba media.
“This is the game personally as a player I want to win, so as a team, we want nothing short of victory in the game.
“We want to improve our position on the table, everyone is ready, both players and technical crew are ready to deliver the maximum points.”
