Adeleke inaugurates N500m election violence relief committee in Osun

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has inaugurated a 10-member Committee on Election Violence Victims to verify claims and oversee the disbursement of the state’s N500 million relief endowment fund.

The committee, chaired by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon.Adewale Olumide Egbedun, is tasked with establishing a transparent process to verify claims and ensure financial support reaches affected citizens.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Monday, the Governor noted that the initiative highlights his administration’s commitment to supporting those who suffered injuries, displacement, or material losses.

“The committee is mandated to receive and verify petitions, claims and supporting evidence submitted by victims; determine the eligibility of claimants; and recommend appropriate relief to verified victims in accordance with the guidelines approved by the State Government,” the State Government declared.

The panel features representatives from key state ministries and civil society, including Mrs. Eniola Omotoso, Mr. Emmanuel Ologun (Civil Society Organisations), Alhaja Balkiss Akinleye, Hon. Yemi Lawal, Moses Faremi Esq. (Ministry of Justice), and Alhaji Moshood Suleiman (Ministry of Information).

Nominees from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) are also included, with the Executive Secretary of the Osun Investment Promotion Agency, Mr. Sola Sonibare, serving as Secretary.

The State Government urged all affected victims to cooperate with the panel by submitting accurate information to facilitate a fair and prompt verification exercise.
