Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has extended his condolences to the family of former lawmaker, Senator Ayodeji Otegbola, describing him as a distinguished politician and an exemplary community leader.
Otegbola, who represented Ogun West Senatorial District during the aborted Third Republic, passed away on Monday at the age of 91.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Governor Abiodun praised the late Asiwaju of Awori land for his dedication to community development and grassroots politics. He emphasised Otegbola’s unwavering commitment to fostering unity and progress in Ogun State and beyond.
“Senator Ayo Otegbola exemplified the essence of a visionary leader. His tenure as Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority between 2002 and 2004 was marked by transformative policies that accelerated housing development across Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory,” Abiodun stated.
He highlighted Otegbola’s significant contributions to housing schemes such as Gwarinpa, noting that his efforts had left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s urban development.
“His passion for community cohesion, coupled with his wealth of experience in estate surveying, shaped his impactful leadership. His legacy will continue to inspire generations,” the governor added.
Abiodun expressed his deep sorrow over Otegbola’s passing, noting that his contributions to Ogun State and Nigeria at large would remain memorable. He prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and for strength for the bereaved family.
