NYSC charges corps members to be neutral at the conduct of elections

NYSC has tasked corps members to be neutral at the conduct of the 2023 general elections.

Brig. Gen. Ahmad Dogara, NYSC’s Director-General gave the charge in a message he sent to close of the  2023 Batch ‘A’ Stream I orientation course at Damare, Adamawa.

Dogara’s message was delivered by the NYSC Coordinator in Adamawa, Mr Jingi Denis.

“As was the case at the previous exercises, Corps members form majority of ad-hoc staff engaged for the conduct elections.

“The performance of your predecessors contributed to the credibility of previous elections and earned NYSC accolades from local and foreign election observers.

“I enjoin you to take a cue from your predecessors by discharging the election duties with high sense of responsibility and honesty,’’ he said.

He assured the corps members that INEC and security agencies had made fool proof arrangements for their welfare and safety before, during and after the exercise.

He also appealed to employers to always accept corps members posted to them and to make necessary provisions for their welfare.

“I urge employers to mentor these young Nigerians properly to enable them to realise their potentialities.

“I also call on other stakeholders, including states and local governments as well as traditional rulers to give necessary encouragement to the corps members,’’ he added.

He warned the corps members against unauthorised journeys to ensure their safety.
