Court remands 2 unemployed men for allegedly assaulting their neighbour

A Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja, on Tuesday, remanded two unemployed men in a correction centre for allegedly assaulting their neighbour
The police charged Kingsley Nwodo and Chinasa Chinwike who live in Jikwoyi phase 4, Abuja with joint act, criminal trespass, defamation of character, assault and causing hurt.
The Judge, Mr Umar Mayana, deferred bail for the defendants and adjourned until Feb. 13 for mention.
Mayana ordered that the first defendant be remanded in suleja correctional Centre while the 2nd defendant be remanded in Keffi Correctional Centre, pending investigation.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Ade Adeyanju, told the court that the matter was reported jikwoyi Police Station by Adalikwu Rose of jikwoyi Phase 4, Karu, Abuja.
Adeyanju told the court the defendants trespassed into the complainant’s house and accused her of stealing chicken.
He said the 2nd defendant assaulted bit her in the chest while the 1st defendant beat her up.
The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 79, 348, 292, 266 and 240 of the Penal Code.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
